FARSCAPE: THE PEACEKEEPER WARS
Canadian Television Premieres
Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 @ 9pm ET
(Toronto - February 16, 2004) Sci-fi fans are known for their spirited and staunch loyalty to the genre, and Farscape fans proved that persistence and zealous advocacy works. When the cult sci-fi fantasy series Farscape was canceled in 2002, fans worldwide (who call themselves 'Scapers) initiated letter-writing campaigns, organized rallies and launched a national U.S. advertising blitz (which included a front-page ad in Variety) persuading the Sci-Fi Channel and the Jim Henson Company to create Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. This two-part miniseries offers fans a proper conclusion to the Farscape series, and premieres in Canada on SPACE with part one airing on Friday, March 25 at 9pm ET and part two airing on Saturday, March 26 at 9pm ET.
"This special television event would not be a reality were it not for the tireless, unwavering efforts of the Farscape fans to bring the series back," says director and executive producer Brian Henson. "Like all of us at the Jim Henson Company, they believed that the epic story we were telling was something special and deserved a proper ending. We are thrilled to respond to their dedication by creating this miniseries, thus resolving many of the unanswered questions from the final episode and giving fans their due."
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars continues the adventures of astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) and his intergalactic comrades. Newly engaged and expectant parents John Crichton and Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) have been chased around the galaxy, falling in love with each other along the way. Now all they want is for their baby to be born and live in peace. However, they'll first have to survive an all-out galactic war between the Scarrans and Peacekeepers as well as a myriad of outlandish and unexpected surprises that have become the hallmark of this award-winning series. The miniseries also stars Anthony Simcoe, Gigi Edgley, Wayne Pygram and Paul Goddard.
Leading up to the premiere of Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, SPACE will air the last five episodes of the fourth and final season to refresh the memories of fans on Friday, March 25, beginning at 4pm ET. SPACE will also present The Making of Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, a 45-minute behind-the-scenes special also produced by the Jim Henson Company, on Thursday, March 24 at 9pm ET.
